How Learning Animal Communication Can Help You to Support Your Anxious Animal

I know just what it’s like to have an anxious animal to care for. When my horse Amy arrived in my life aged 8, she was anxious about cars, lorries, tractors, motorbikes, any loud noises and sudden movements. She would bolt or shy away from whatever was scaring her, which proved to be quite a challenge for my 12 year old self!

I realised early on in our relationship that Amy was looking to me for reassurance and how to react to situations she found scary. She needed me to be patient with her and as calm as I could possibly be. She was checking my reaction to a “scary” thing.

A really big part of what I did in terms of offering Amy calmness and reassurance, was showing her what it was like to feel calm, talking to her out loud and in my mind, using affirmations, listening to Amy through her physical, emotional and mental responses, consciously sending her love and using visualisation to help her to feel relaxed. It was a natural flow of communication based on many conversations I had had with other animals and with Amy it developed into what I now call “Animal Communication.”

What I noticed with Amy was that the calmer I was, the calmer she could be too. The more I slowed down to listen to her and meet her where she was in any given moment, the less anxious she became. The more I used affirmations and messages of love, the more she trusted me. It was amazing to see her grow in confidence with true love, compassion, consistency, reassurance and kindness.

I'm honouring Amy's memory this year with a new online class called Easy Animal Communication for Anxious Animals. It is created from the techniques that I developed to help Amy. The exercises and meditation are intended for you to do together with your animal, bringing much needed 1:1 time that so many anxious animals crave from their guardian.

My intention is to help anxious animals and their guardians to find more moments of peace, more moments of calm and to help to deepen the trust and special connection of love that you share. It's like a huge hug for you and your animal!

The easy exercises are an extension and development of the communication you already share with your animal. They are an invitation to find effective methods of communicating to your animal that they are safe and can release anxiety, as Amy did.

I love that when the class came together it did so in bite size pieces that form a beautiful whole. There is no pressure to learn something within a time frame, simply an easy way to introduce animal communication techniques into your daily time spent with your animal. The added secret ingredient is that the exercises help you to feel calmer, clearer and more in tune with yourself too!

Easy Animal Communication for Anxious Animals takes just an hour to complete and is divided into 10-15 minute sections.

It’s a class that I recommend for supporting animals with a fear of fireworks, as the emphasis is on exercises that create calm and help to reduce anxiety. Taking the class ahead of firework season can be a very helpful part of your preparation for your animal to be calmer when fireworks are happening.
